Chartered Financial Planner
I have worked in the Financial Services Industry for around 30 years and in that time, as well as becoming Director of the company, have completed my Advanced Diploma in Financial Planning to achieve Chartered Status.
Prior to my current role I worked at the Yorkshire bank from 1985 and worked my way up to become an adviser in 1995. In the year 2000 I left the bank to set up the business with Rich Firth, our Commercial Finance Broker and fellow Director.
I also play a role in the wider Financial Services community as I am a Yorkshire Professional Finance Society Committee member as well as being ex President of the Hull Chartered Insurance Institute in 2009. I have been the Vice President again in 2023 and president of the Hull Chartered insurance institute from 2024 to 2026.
In my spare time I enjoy walking my dog and watching sports such as football and PDC Premier League Darts. I also enjoy going to see Santa Pod and various comedians.
I became a Trainee financial adviser back in 1987 with Allied Dunbar where I spent 7 years before buying my first IFA practice in 1994.
I have been an Independent Financial Planner ever since and have helped thousands of people achieve their financial goals over the years.
As one of the leading hands at Omega Wealth & Finance, I have helped build and develop the business into becoming a prominent independent firm in the North of England.
These days I tend to specialise in arranging and managing investments, helping clients to build their ‘pot’ for retirement and choosing the best options for their circumstances when they decide to retire. I do still deal with the industry staples of Life Insurance, Critical Illness cover and Income Protection and via my qualified colleagues, we can help you with: mortgages, re-mortgages, buy to let loans and lifetime loans (Equity Release).
Outside of the office, I enjoy travelling, cars, restoring vintage hi-fi equipment and playing music. I also enjoy various sports, including: Football, Rugby League & F1 – indeed, I have been fortunate to have attended a few Grand Prix races around the world.
My financial services career launched in the late 2000’s when I began working as an administrator, alongside completing my financial planning qualifications. I was then able to progress to be a Paraplanner for a national network of financial advisers in Leeds before ultimately becoming an Independent Financial Adviser. Since this, I have undertaken several exams over the years to expand my knowledge and advice for my clients.
Furthermore, I have been President of the Insurance Institute of York on more than one occasion including most recently in 2023.
I am here to help you achieve your financial goals and consider any gaps in your financial planning. This involves visiting a wide range of clients in and around the East Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and Lincolnshire areas.
When I am not working hard in the office, I can often be found at the gym, spending time in nature and practising my photography. I also enjoy spending time with family and travelling.
My financial services career launched back in the 1990’s , originally starting out as a Pensions Administrator for Royal Life insurance company down in London.
After spending a few years in administration, I joined Midland Bank (now HSBC) as a Financial Planning Manager up until their 2012 restructure.
Since 2012 I have been an independent financial adviser, looking after both individual and corporate companies.
Whilst I am mostly based at our Bridlington office, I am here to help clients with their financial planning goals in the North Yorkshire, East Yorkshire and West Yorkshire areas.
When I am not working hard in the office or out on appointments, you will often find me either tinkering with my spanners under one of my cars, or displaying my vintage Lego collection at one of the many regional Lego shows. Failing that I will be spending time with my family.
I began my journey within the Financial Services industry working in the Banking sector. Upon leaving school in South Yorkshire, I joined the Yorkshire Bank and was able to work my way up from Bank Clerk to Commercial Manager in Business Banking.
Following this, around 30 years ago I relocated to East Yorkshire and left the bank to set up a Financial Services Brokerage at the turn of the century in which I was joined by Neil Davey.
Being fully trained by the bank in aspects of lending, client management, credit risk and securities means that I bring knowledge and expertise to structuring deals for commercial clients as well as years of experience in proposing these cases to lenders of all types.
Outside of work I am a lover of sports, particularly football and both codes of rugby. I have also enjoyed the opportunity to become a fully qualified Rugby Union and Rugby League coach.
My career in the Financial Services industry began upon leaving school in 1999 when I joined the Yorkshire bank as a cashier. Whilst there I was able to complete my mortgage exams and became a mortgage adviser in 2004 in the Sheffield area. After a couple of years, I left to join the company as an Independent Broker and by 2009 became a Director in the business.
My current role involves arranging and looking after all types of Residential and Buy-To-Let mortgages as well as advising on protection options. This ensures that a client is protected should the unthinkable happen or should they be unable to work due to illness or injury. I also regularly deal with self-employed cases and complex income structures. In addition, I have been able to take my Equity Release examination which allows me to advise on Lifetime Mortgages.
In my personal life I am a very sporty individual, playing football, golf, badminton and running regularly. I enjoy music and with this in mind I like to attend concerts and festivals.
